Your business website needs a redesign if it's slow or awkward on mobile, brings in almost no inquiries despite traffic, looks noticeably older than competitors, can't be updated without a developer, doesn't rank for your own services, has no clear call to action, or no longer matches what you sell. If only one or two of these apply, targeted fixes are usually cheaper than a full rebuild.

What are the 7 signs a website needs a redesign?
- It's slow on mobile. If PageSpeed Insights shows a poor mobile score and pages take more than 3 seconds to show content, visitors leave.
- Traffic but no inquiries. People arrive and nobody calls, fills a form or messages.
- It looks dated next to competitors. Visitors judge trust in seconds.
- You can't update it yourself. Every price or photo change needs a developer.
- It doesn't rank for your services. Searching "your service + your city" doesn't show you.
- No clear next step. No visible WhatsApp, call or booking button.
- It describes a business you no longer are. New services, new location, new audience.
When does a website not need a redesign?
If the site loads fast, brings steady inquiries and only has one or two weak spots, fix those instead. Common targeted fixes:
| Problem | Fix instead of redesign |
|---|---|
| Few inquiries | Add WhatsApp button, rewrite headline, add reviews |
| Not ranking | Service pages, titles, Google Business Profile |
| Slightly slow | Compress images, remove heavy plugins |
| Outdated content | Rewrite copy and replace photos |
The copy side is covered in how to write website content that converts.
How do you check your website in 15 minutes?
- Run your homepage through Google PageSpeed Insights on mobile.
- Open the site on your phone and try to contact yourself in under 10 seconds.
- Search your main service plus your city in an incognito window.
- Check Google Search Console or analytics for visits vs inquiries last month.
- Open two competitors' sites side by side with yours.
If three or more checks fail, a redesign is likely the better investment.
What should a redesign keep so you don't lose rankings?
Keep URLs that already rank, or set up 301 redirects from old to new addresses. Keep page titles and content that bring traffic, resubmit the sitemap to Search Console after launch, and monitor rankings for a few weeks. Skipping redirects is the most common way a redesign wipes out years of Google traffic. The post-launch steps are in what happens after a website launch.
How much does a website redesign cost?
In India, a small business redesign usually costs about the same as a new site of that size: roughly ₹15,000–₹75,000 for most service businesses, more with custom features. See business website cost in India for a breakdown.
